As a survivor of an eating disorder and a relational psychotherapist, I know the patterns of behaviour that contribute towards an eating disorder. I want to provide a supportive, caring environment for you to share your experience and to open yourself to an opportunity to learn of a new, healthier way of living. Sometimes the process can be seem slow, but with support, caring and understanding, eating disorders can be understood in the context of your life as a whole and you can learn to expand your life and live in a whole new way. I look forward to working with you along that journey.

Eating disorders are closely related to the intense emotional issues that a person is not yet ready to embrace. Eating becomes a distraction or a way out of these painful emotions, and a ready distraction. The treatment methodology I provide is to do a family sculpt of you as a child in your family of origin, so you can learn about the messages, beliefs and rules your learned around body image, food, sexuality, emotions and feelings. We also explore loneliness and inner child work as a way to uncover how is eating and why? Often it is the inner child who eats because he/she is lonely and feels abandoned. I encourage a deep spiritual practice of mindfulness and bodywork in this field.

An eating disorder is typically tied to a feeling of being out of control. Although I deal with the practical considerations of the disorder, I also teach my clients to look at there whole life to see what else needs to be addressed in order to successfully navigate this condition. Our work revolves on no judgement but is based on facts that look at the price and reward of each decision my client's make.

I have been working with eating disordered clients since working in a college setting over 30 yrs ago and I am still using a two-track approach: helping an individual change their behaviour and life-style on the one hand, and then walking with them through many of the underlying emotional and spiritual issues that drive the eating disorder on the other. Compulsive eating, anorexia and bulimia have a tight grip on so many women (and some men) but if you are one of them, I want to assure you that your future is not hopeless. I would be glad to help you get free from this. Call me today with any questions you may have regarding my experience and approach.
