Grief and loss touch all of us in time. None of us are immune to it. You may be greiving the loss of a parent, a spouse, a child, or other family member or a friend. You may also be grieving the loss of a beloved pet. Or you may find yourself grieving in ANTICIPATION of the loss of any of these mentioned. Greiving is an individual journey. Sometimes it lasts but a few weeks, but sometimes it lasts well over a year. Support from friends and family is very important, and you are encouraged to seek out those who offer such support. But if you feel you need something more than friends and family are able to give, I'd welcome the opportunity to help.

Having experienced grief and loss myself, I understand how difficult it is. I also know first hand what it is like to just "go through the motions." The tricky part about grief and loss is that there is no one way to experience it. It is different for all. There is no how-to manual on how to get it right. But acknowledging the pain of loss is the best place to begin. This can be the loss of a family member, friend, or pet; loss of status, employment, house, a relationship, or a dream of the future. Many people don't know how to deal with those who are experiencing a loss. It is icky to many because they don't know how to rid you of pain. I, however, promise to sit with you in your pain.

Grief is a very personal process, we all grieve differently, and this is even truer for children, particularly if we have expectations that their process is the same as ours. The child's understanding of death changes for not even understanding the concept as a small child to understanding the concept but not developed enough emotionally to cope as well as adults. The truth be known there are many ideas on stages of grief and what is normal, but there are no hard rules about what normal really means. I have taken courses and post graduate study on grief and worked successfully with children and adults to help them handle their grief.
