Grief is a common human experience, but many underestimate the impact that loss will have on them. They are not often prepared for the long-term impact of key losses such as death, job loss, divorce, or other life transitions. Some can get stuck in the process, developing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other issues. Counseling allows individuals to finish letting that process and to incorporate their loss into their life stories, redeeming the loss and finding life again in spite of the changes brought into their worlds.

All of us may experience the death of a loved one, loss, or any form of grief. How one deals with a loss is uniquely their own. Grief and loss is a part of so much more than many recognize in every day life. Most folks are familiar with the Kubler-Ross stages, but processing grief is much more than those five stages. There are tasks of mourning that can be explored and expanded with support in therapy. There are secondary losses as a result of an initial loss. Grief impacts how open we feel to new relationships in our lives. I work with clients to help them understand their responses to grief, move through their grief and feelings through expressive arts and verbal processing.
