When working through grief and loss, Reesa believes in the importance of examining the relationship to better understand the roles of the grief and loss. From there Reesa provides education on the ebbs and flow of the stages of grief, understanding every person will go through the stages in their own way, and discovering skills for navigating each stage. Through the honoring of the relationship and skill building, Reesa's goal for her clients is to be able to engage through this stage and be able to move towards participating in your future.

Grief is a potential reaction to a loss of any kind whether through death, divorce, abandonment, separation, job loss, illness, disease diagnosis, kids leaving home, etc. Feelings of anger, resentment, shame, confusion, isolation or abandonment can result. I am a Certified Advanced Grief Specialist. Grief is a natural process following a meaningful loss and it can influence physical, emotional, behavioral & spiritual aspects of our lives. Grief is most associated with the death of a loved one, but also occurs with the loss of a pet, job, relationship, and changes in your health. People cope with grief in a variety of ways. The intensity and duration of grieving differs between individuals. Therapy is a safe place to express & explore your feelings. John has been trained in providing trauma therapy, which includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Grief and Loss can include traumatic events and/or memories which can create a negative cognition in our brain. With EMDR, we replace the negative cognition about yourself, with one that is positive and offers healing in processing grief and loss.

So much of my experience as a therapist has roots in supporting clients with grief and loss. Grief is a process, and I can guide you through each phase of grief. We all grieve in our own time, but it's best to do so with a therapist. By allowing the feelings (anger, sadness, frustration, fear, sorrow) to flow through you, the grieving process will happen at a healthier pace.
