Psychotherapy can be defined as "talk therapy." The main goal of this type therapy is to help people talk through their problems with the intent of them working through their issues. Our approach to the counseling process is a little different than this. We have more of a training process approach to helping people work through their problems. That training process involves taking a deeper look at the cause of their problems. Then we give Biblical counsel as to what a person can do to change their thinking about specific problems that will cause a change in their behavior.

Psychotherapy, or personal counseling , involves fostering an intentional interpersonal relationship in order to help a client or patient solving a variety of problems associated with normal life stress. Psychotherapy is a powerful tool to help you understand yourself and others. Individual psychotherapy will help you identify your Authentic Self, your true essence, your spirit. This is who God intended you to be, your divine blueprint. You'll learn how to heal emotional wounds so that you stop repeating self-defeating patterns. You'll learn to love yourself right where you are. You can finally drop the need to be perfect so you can find inner peace. I'm passionate about helping you thrive, not just survive. I am a big advocate of couples counseling to help each individual heal and grow into their Authentic Self. Our relationships make a huge impact on our ability to function well.

We are amazingly complex beings, especially when it comes to our psychology. Current research is showing that much of our behavior is driven by deeper, more emotion-based parts of the brain. Therefore, my approach to therapy addresses both the immediate, short-term habits of behavior, as well as the deeper roots of our feelings. Depression, anxiety, fears, anger... all these can be the result of unresolved feelings and injuries. Together, we can explore the most effective approach to healing.

What is psychotherapy? It is a fancy word that simply says that you are digging down to deal with the root causes with a therapist rather than just addressing the surface symptoms. By working toward resolving the root causes, your symptoms can subside and possibly go away all together. It is possible to get unstuck and move forward toward health, well-being, and proactive change. Although it may not be easy at times, it can be fulfilling, exciting, and inspiring.

My approach to individual psychotherapy is generally cognitive brief therapy. I assess for strengths and vulnerabilities, and focus my efforts in helping the individual to build upon strengths in ways that produce personal success and positive self identity. I build on whatever faith base one has, incorporating healing prayer, imagery, biblical truths, and skill development. I use personality assessment tools to target specific skill and traits that promote positive results based on client's overall goals.

I offer services to individuals, couples, and families. My approach is non-directive and exploratory in nature. I believe that clients have the answer to their problems and therapy is a collaborative effort to uncover those answers. Working with me clients often gain a new perspective that helps them make sense what they thought of as a problem.

There are times in our lives when we may wish we had a better understanding of why we feel the way we feel or do the things we do. At these points there is often a greater sense of urgency to examine how we may have come to where we are, learn from our mistakes and become more of the person we would really like to be. Psychotherapy provides many of the potential benefits toward this end to help us develop the kind of life we would like to live

I believe life is a sacred journey. As we travel this path we often encounter difficulties, challenges, and changes. These can feel insurmountable or overwhelming at times. Your choices on how to deal with your situation/s may seem inadequate or limited. Through psychotherapy I can help you increase your range of choices and encourage and enable you to handle successfully this increased range of choices. As a result you will grow and become more integrated and whole.
