My approach to psychotherapy is mainly insight oriented. I tend to provide a lot of insight to the client's life situations, while aslo actively listening to their situations. We work on proiritizing what is important for the client so that we can focus on the client's goals. Each client will work toward their goals in each session while establishing a theraputic relationship.

Like most human experiences, I believe that Psychotherapy is a process. It needs a significant investment of time an energy and can be navigated in three stages: 1. Exploration; 2. Identification; 3. Change. My role as a therapist is to create the space for people to explore and identify some areas within themselves that they want to change and take the risk.

I welcome and foster your deep expression of joy, sadness, vulnerability, wisdom, as well as lack of clarity. When you know that you are fully accepted as yourself, and when you can fully see yourself, then you can also accept and love your full self as you truly are. By the therapy pointing to moments and narratives that are full of authenticity and feeling, and highlighting those into awareness, you can start to sense and feel areas of yourself that you had forgotten existed, or had forgotten the importance of. Through therapy you will, through ongoing open discussion and emotional connection, reclaim lost parts of yourself and as a result, live more fully and thrive.

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy as it is known, is the most common approach to learning about the root causes of the presenting problem. Although I am licensed as a psychoanalyst in New York, over my 37 years of practice I have also trained in Gestalt therapy, bioenergetics, art therapy, psychodrama, group therapy, couples therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Thus I am eclectic and I apply whatever modality is needed in each case. My philosophy of therapy and change is that change comes from within. As a therapist, I ask a great deal in asking an individual to change, as change is an incredibly difficult task for everyone. The journey of change requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively throughout this journey. It is for this reason that the rapport between the client and myself is critical. I aim to provide all my clients with the space to explore their underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so that they can engage in change.
