Psychotherapy helps you understand yourself better so that you can cope more effectively with your problems. We will start with you telling me the story of what is happening in your personal or relationship life. I will ask lots of questions for clarification and more details. You will gain insight and awareness of your established patterns of behaviour. This is not a speedy counseling method but its goal is to be a thorough one. Your competencies will be identified and reinforced and you will learn new skills. The goal will be for you to make good changes so that your life is more as you would like it to be. Psychotherapy can be an exciting process with positive growth opportunities for you.

James Hillman once said, "We've had a hundred years of psychotherapy and the world is getting worse." While there are many occasions where the validation and listening endemic to psychotherapy makes sense, there are times where we over assume that "feeling better" and "changing behavior" are the same. Grey Matters International, Inc. goes after the forgotten brain laws to behavior change that therapists miss when processing hours and hours of dialogues with people. Utilizing a cutting edge technology to facilitate the emotional process of change, we can make the therapy process way more effective, faster, and with less money spent. Alexandra Goodall, MA, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor, Somatic Psychotherapist, Arts-based Psychotherapist, Sex and Intimacy Coach

I offer a multidisciplinary and relational approach to psychotherapy that includes early attachment work and a sensitivity to intergenerational dynamics and trauma, with a holistic orientation and evidence-based techniques. The role of the body in healing is central to my work, as I draw on many somatic practices. I also work with the arts as a healing modality. On the part of my clients, no experience in the arts is necessary. Whichever therapeutic modality we choose as best suited to your current journey, we work with the fundamental creative drive that is present in all of us to encounter the many facets of your healing pilgrimage necessary for growth and lasting change.

Fundamental to the work is a good therapeutic relationship. That is, we have the collaboration and trust to combine your knowledge of yourself and your situation and my skills and knowledge of the clinical issues to make change happen. With established trust and rapport between us, we can develop a structureless structure for our treatment plan. That is, one flexible enough to give space to deal with thoughts and feelings spontaneously each week, and structured enough to accomplish your goals.

My approach is to work collaboratively with clients using a holistic model of therapy which entails a blending of Eastern and Western modalities. For example, training in meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, proper exercise, a nutritious, science-based diet and maintaining proper sleep hygiene. Also, including talk therapy can then help to reveal core values and issues. Mindfulness training benefits clients in observing clearly thoughts and behaviours. Clients benefit greatly through the use of evidence based interventions by developing the skills needed to evaluate thought patterns and overcome destructive patterns.

My approach is rooted in creating a collaborative and empathetic space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I believe in the power of a therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect, serving as a foundation for the transformative process of self-discovery and healing. Drawing from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Humanistic approaches, I tailor my methods to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. By fostering a non-judgmental environment, I aim to empower clients to openly express themselves and work towards understanding the underlying factors influencing their behaviours.

I use the process of psychotherapy to guide a client to explore their experience from a place of depth. Sometimes, past experiences and childhood grief may not have been accessed or processed and can affect one in the present. I use Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) with individuals and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples to help clients to be more aware of the underlying emotions that drive behaviour. This therapy provides the framework to be more aware of vulnerabilities and works well with anxiety, depression, PTSD and interpersonal relationships.
