Anger is often triggered by an underlying emotion such as sadness, disappointment but comes out in a way that protects these feelings. Some anger can be healthy; as in being angry enough at a growing waistline to sign up for the gym or speaking up when boundaries get crossed over and over. Through using cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques, clients can learn to communicate in ways that meet their needs and still respect the needs of others.

Together we will look at where the anger is truly coming from. We will look at past family patterns that may have handed this down to you. We will look at your current situation and see perhaps who you are really angry at. Sometimes it is not who or what you think. We will work on tactics to release your angry in a healthy manner and see what is under the anger.

Chris provides anger management counseling and psychotherapy where he is a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS) where helps clients identify the reasons for anger and rage. Often the client might have other reasons for anger and mood swings. Often anger can be a problem in a marriage or relationship leading to safety concerns. Chris Colasuonno, LCSW-R provides assessment and therapy for anger. Some individuals may not recognize the cause for the anger or know how to get treated. Sometimes anger can be a mental health issue of bipolar or depression. Finding the reasons and offering solutions is one of my specialties.
