The culture here is centered on the students at Colorado State University1. The demographic is largely driven by the college-aged students, which lends the city to a thriving local music circuit. New Belgium is the largest of the four breweries and distributes as far east a Mississippi and west to California.

Although social attitudes are changing, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people have an uphill challenge when it comes to being respected in society, and sometimes finding community can be difficult. There's good news for LGBT people in Northern Colorado. The Center, and LGBT nonprofit, offers lots of community events and support groups for those coming into their own sexuality or gender identity.5
