Mental Health in Tulsa

Residents of Tulsa County have a high number of poor mental health days. In fact, the Oklahoma State Department of Health gives the county a grade of D when it comes to behavioral health. The county also receives a grade of D in terms of suicide prevention. With over 14 percent of Tulsa County's resident's living in poverty, many are unable to afford or simply do not have access to quality mental health care.2 However, through partnerships with public and private organizations, Tulsa is making strides toward improving mental health access for all.

Tulsa residents who have disabilities and who need to improve their employment skills in order to find an adequate job can participate in training courses offered by Goodwill of Tulsa. The TulsaWORKS program provides opportunities to learn life skills and essential employment skills, as well as specific skills related to the use of computers.
