Everyone experiences challenging situations in life. And while you have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there is nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. Things don’t have to stay the same – you can feel better, you can feel happy, you can experience joy, not just sadness.
I work with children, adolescents and adults around issues such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar, relationship issues, ADHD, stress, PTSD, and attachment issues. To assist in the healing process my therapy involves psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as some CBT/DBT.
One of my specialties is trauma therapy. I believe that you don’t have to live with the negative effects of trauma whether it happened yesterday or twenty years ago. Every individual defines trauma differently it could be a failed marriage, loss of job, car accident, a physical or sexual assault or any terrible or scary event that has negatively impacted your life.
I bring over 25+ years as a therapist as well as my training as a psychoanalyst, to help you heal, survive and thrive.
In addition to being a
psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I have presented at National conferences and to
general audiences speaking on the topics of trauma and PTSD, parenting and
I am an interactive, psychodynamic therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and insight to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
One-on-one counseling provides an opportunity for people to openly talk about their thoughts and feelings while being assisted by a professional and caring guide. Clients often seek individual therapy due to some recent stress in their lives, or due to an ongoing conflict they have been unable to resolve alone. Although some people initially worry that talking about themselves will be awkward or uncomfortable, most people find individual sessions enjoyable and growth enhancing. While the client gains greater focus on her/his thoughts and feelings, the therapist acts as a non-judgmental guide, helping the individual recognize patterns and finding ways to avoid past problems.
