Greetings! Seeking help from a counselor takes courage. Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about seeing a therapist or even saying you are struggling on your own and could use some assistance. Talking with someone who will listen and observe from an outside point of view can offer insight, clarity, and new ideas. I am here to not only offer support and guidance but also hope.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a background in mental health. I specialize in working with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, anger, crisis management, stress management, and low self-esteem. I also specialize in working with individuals who self-identify as LGBTQIQ. I use a whole-health approach where together we can explore all areas of the life balance. Benefits of using a whole-health approach include empowering yourself to explore true fulfillment in the areas of health, family, friends, romance, community, career, leisure, and self-care. Often times, something has gone awry in one or more of these areas, and our lives may feel out of control or as if something is missing. What can result are feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear, anger, or self-doubt. "The only way out is through," is a phrase that encompasses the process of change and growth. By looking at challenges through a whole-health approach, we can not only identify areas of change but also personal strengths.

Although I am now in private practice, I was employed with a behavioral health agency where I worked with individuals who were diagnosed with a severe mental disorder. I worked as a therapist, case manager, and an advocate. What I have come to find in counseling is that I learn much more from my clients than they learn from me. I truly enjoy the relationships that are built during the counseling process.

I strive to provide a safe, comfortable and accepting space. One of my roles as a counselor is to be genuine, and I create a laid-back atmosphere where you and I can both enjoy being ourselves. Come as you are!

I hold a B.A. in Psychology from the University or North Texas and a M.A. in Professional Counseling from Amberton University. I hold a professional membership with the American Counseling Association (ACA), and I am a member of the ACA's division titled Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC). I am also a Continuing Education provider.

"Happiness is a journey, not a destination." -Souza. This is a quote that I not only firmly believe in, but I try to live by. If you feel that I might be the best match for you, it would be my pleasure to get to work with you.
