Welcome! Seeking support can be frightening and overwhelming, but if you are ready to make change you have already taken an important step by looking here. You don’t have to do it alone! We can work together to determine the best way to achieve your goals in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment.
I use a warm and collaborative approach, encouraging patients to be an active part of their sessions as we work together toward your desired goals. I will not sit silently and nod; I am also an active participant in sessions. You will have my full attention and feedback with your best interests in mind. It is my goal that you feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I want patients to enjoy their sessions and look forward to coming. While I will always take your concerns seriously, I do believe that a sense of humor can have a useful place in therapy. After all, laughter can be good medicine!
Our work would begin with a thorough assessment and evaluation, after which we would discuss your specific goals and develop a treatment plan. From there, we would meet for subsequent sessions to identify patterns which aren’t working and teach tools and techniques for making change. I often give homework, which I find to be the best way to extend the therapy session into the rest of your life. I want to re-state that my philosophy is collaborative: I welcome your questions and feedback. If something isn’t working or doesn’t feel right, we will discuss it and approach it in a different way. If you have a concern or question about homework or a specific situation between sessions, you are welcome to reach out. My goal is the same as your goal: for you to feel better as soon as possible!
I have over 15 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, partners, and families to help overcome anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationship challenges. I specialize in therapy with queer-identified and trans-identified individuals and the surrounding issues of coming out, questioning, transitioning, family concerns, relationship dynamics, and self-esteem. I have extensive experience working with individuals and partners in alternative relationship structures and provide an affirming environment. I use a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, which identifies specific thinking and behavior patterns which underlie the problem and teaches new techniques to bring about change.
For me, it is a privilege and an honor to work with someone on a very personal and meaningful quest toward self-understanding. I truly love my work and find great reward in helping my patients find more peace of mind, freedom, comfort, and happiness.
