One of the most effective ways to help a person "manage their anger" is to understand what they are trying to communicate through this very powerful emotion. I have found the original meaning, from the Old Norse word "angr" to be very illuminating because it translates as "to grieve." When I think of anger from this perspective, I don't see it so much as a behavior as I do has a response to a deeply felt wound that hasn't been given the opportunity to heal. At the same time, I expect the people I work with individually or in groups to hold themselves accountable, "manage" the destructive potential of this emotion, and become compassionate stewards of themselves and the safety of others.
