Feeling out of control, frustrated, stressed...impulsively reacting to situations? Anger is a powerful emotion that can either help or hurt us. I believe that if we learn to listen and effectively communicate the underlying emotions (such as our feelings of being trapped, disrespected, pressured or scared), we can enrich our own lives as well as those around us. I can help you build awareness and develop skills that help you speak "for" your anger instead of "from" it. Anger is a universal emotion...and when we learn to express it effectively, we find greater personal health and happiness as well as enriched relationships.

I currently offer anger management therapy through discussing the cause and source of anger and working through ways to handle anger in a positive way. Anger is a normal, natural reaction. What is important is how we handle our anger and that we handle it in a positive way. Anger can become addicting for some and itis hard to break the cycle. Anger management is difficult, and I can help you get to where you can handle your anger in a positive way.

I prefer the term trigger management. Anger stems from frustration, hurt, annoyance and disappointment. We will work together to control your feelings and actions that may have been getting you in trouble at school, home, the community or at work. Recognizing your triggers can help use appropriate ways to reach goals and solve problems. You can overcome those outbursts and lead the life you desire.

Anger becomes a habitual way of responding to frustration and stress in life. It can become particularly harmful for our relationships with others, whether that be in our romantic relationships, in our families, or in the workplace. Unfortunately, our society tends to reinforce aggressive ways of handling relationship difficulties and the general frustrations of life. Expressing impatience, frustration, and anger have become all too common as acceptable modes of handling conflict. Overcoming patterns of anger requires honest self–appraisal and a deep commitment to treating others with respect at all times using more respectful skills of effective assertiveness.

Getting angry is a very human and healthy emotion. Anyone can get angry at times, but when anger takes over a person and it gets out of control leading to problems at home, office and on your overall life, it calls for good anger management skills. If you can remember that anger equals hurt feelings. One can use good compassion skills to control our emotional self. I see anger as a secondary emotion. In order to heal the anger it is important to look beyond anger and search for the primary emotion. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is very important so you will feel comfortable revealing how you are hurting underneath that angry exterior. Understanding what can trigger you anger is important also. Some education about the brain and how it works is generally helpful in understanding and conquering your anger. I want to show you how you control your emotions. Emotions do not control you!

Anger can be managed with a variety of techniques, but anger is not the real problem. Anger stems from deeper issues. Rather than simply help you manage anger, I seek to help you understand where the anger is coming from, deal with the root issues, and help you receive insight and healing in those areas. Then, with a minor amount of management, anger is not simply managed, but dramatically reduced.
