I approach Depression as I do any other "feeling state". Simply, every human being who has ever drawn a breath experiences the same emotions, as mentioned above in the paragraph about grief. As unpleasant as it seems, I believe that it MUST have a purpose and once that purpose is satisfied the feeling goes back into the background until it is needed again. I encourage the use of medications as a part of the therapeutic experience. And I've been told that the combination seems to work very well for a lot of people. My focus is positive and I encourage the same from my clients.

There is hope if you suffer from depression! Medication is only one of the treatments to use for help in maintaining stability. Additionally, you can gain insight into your depression and its triggers and develop some positive self-talk tools such as how to script your days, and how to pull yourself out of the cycle of depression. It is difficult for individuals as well as their families to walk through depression - I would like to help you through this journey.

Depression takes such an intense toll not only in the quality of our life but also of those that live around us. Sometimes it is necessary to seek the aid of medication to get past this difficult moment in our lives and at times we are able to gain tools and abilities to help keep depression at bay.
With the use of Neurofeedback I can offer an alternative to treatment without having to stop taking medication at first, together we can fight depression from taking hold of our lives.

Until you feel the heaviness that sadness and depression that can often create, it is difficult for many to understand. In my experience working with individuals struggling with depression, I find that working on short-term goals for bettering your life is most helpful. Short-term goals often lead to increases in self-esteem and provide people with the ability to shed light on areas that before, seemed impossible to change. I remind my clients that small changes can often yield big results. It is those slight changes in perspective that help us through those difficult times.

Everyone experiences sadness at some point in their lives, particularly after a loss. And many of us also have had the thought at sometime or another, "I wish I could just go to bed and not wake up." But what sets apart clinical depression from severe sadness is how long the sadness has been occurring, how intense it feels, and how much in interferes in the daily activities of life. It has been fulfilling for me to assist in moving clients from the depths of despair to regaining the ability to feel like themselves again.

Depression Clinical depression goes by many names -- depression, "the blues," biological depression, major depression. But it all refers to the same thing: feeling sad and depressed for weeks or months on end (not just a passing blue mood), accompanied by feelings of hopelessness, lack of energy, and taking little or no pleasure in things that gave you joy in the past. A person who's depressed just "can't get moving" and feels completely unmotivated to do just about anything. Even simple things -- like getting dressed in the morning or eating -- become large obstacles.
