Grief can take many forms with one of them being grieving a relationship. One of the ways Amy helps her clients is to work on forgiving themselves for what feels like a weakness and to uncover their hidden strength. The emotional and physical symptoms of grief after a breakup can be so intense that the body and psyche can overwhelm the logical brain to create a way of functioning that appears necessary for survival, even though it might be self-destructive.

Grief and loss is a process that does not follow steps in a certain order. We help process the loss in the hopes of giving a strong meaning to the life event, so that you feel that you can carry whatever you feel that has been lost in a healthy way. Our goal is for clients to thaw and leave the process having a new meaning about their loss. Grief and loss can feel like a very lonely experience; however, a client does not have to be alone.

The pain of losing someone never quite fully goes away, but my hope is that you will benefit from being comforted as you grieve the loss of someone close to you. My approach to grief counseling is to listen with an open heart and an open ear while holding a space where you can feel safe to share your unique grief story. In sharing your story you begin to process your grief, and ultimately you learn to integrate the loss into your life in a way that feels appropriate and right for you. My approach to this process is always with deep compassion and without judgment.
