Licensed Clinical Social Worker

311 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24504

I encourage clients to tell their stories in an environment of safety and acceptance. I use the psychosocial perspective that encompasses a broad range of relevant information to achieve a holistic understanding of the client in the full context of his or her history and present life. I encourage emotional expression, recognition and development of strengths and skills, spiritual exploration, and mindful acceptance. Mandala art therapy and assessment, Neuro-Integration, and Emotional Freedom Technique greatly facilitate the process if the client chooses.

Anyone can talk. Finding someone who knows how to listen is becoming more of a challenge these days. My approach to counseling is based on a client-centered, solution focused practice that helps establish a comfortable and meaningful relationship in which you can be heard and understood and can receive feedback aimed at optimal health. If you find yourself struggling with the mundane problems of everyday life or a significant experience which compromises your mental and emotional health, talking to a therapist can be one of the most effective steps in achieving a sense of self-awareness and balance.

Carolina Castanos, Ph.D

Marriage and Family Therapist

3711-A West Market St, Greensboro, North Carolina 27403

Psychotherapy is a process towards growth and change. I use several techniques to help my clients recognize what is happening inside of them, where it is stemming from, and find a new way of being in the world and with themselves. This process involves having new experiences which lead to exploration within a safe relationship. I believe that the relationship between the client and the therapist is as important as working on the problem. I help my clients develop skills to relate with themselves and others in a different, compassionate, and kind way.

Charisse Coleman, MS, LPCA, NCC

Licensed Professional Counselor Assoc.

1200 Broad St, Suite 103, Durham, North Carolina 27705

If you feel blocked, thwarted, without options or direction, if you find yourself experiencing the same unhappiness again and again, then psychotherapy might be a good fit for you. My approach, in part, is for us to investigate whatever lies just outside your awareness: the beliefs, rules, & unconscious habits preventing you from creating the life you want. We will also identify rejected parts of your self so that you may befriend them and rediscover your sense of wholeness. The work can be rigorous, demanding, uncomfortable. Also warm, funny, and surprising. And often deeply rewarding. It would be my privilege to support, guide, and challenge you into the fullness of your potential.

Jill White-Huffman, LPC, MFT

Licensened Professional Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist

1921 D Boulevard Street / Holden Executive Center, Greensboro, North Carolina 27407

I enjoy teaching couples and individuals about healthy ways to treat themselves so that they will learn to enjoy life to its fullness. It all starts in the mind. Psychotherapy involves talking out your problems to a professional, and speaking with a licensed counselor may help you overcome the obstacles that we face daily, as well as the emotional or psychological issues that may stand in our way.

Jonathan Gerard, DMin

Rabbi, DMin

208 Sunset Dr, Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27516

Psychotherapy is based on the idea that we repress events and thoughts in our lives which make us unhappy or uncomfortable and that these repressions poison our behavior. Talking, going back and airing these repressions, therefore, renders them harmless. If this were true, then therapists would have the happiest lives, lowest divorce rates, and most well adjusted children. They don't! I do not believe this works and do not do it. I also do not label my clients with codes or numbers--surely a dehumanizing act which makes therapy more difficult.

Tammy Holcomb, LPCS, CEDS, NBCCH

Licensed Professional Counselor

5001 S Miami Blvd. Ste 325, Durham, North Carolina 27703

During my first meeting with clients, I like to ask questions and assess what their goals are for therapy. I like to recognize both strengths and weaknesses they may bring to this process. I assess any immediate risks that may need to be addressed in order for them to get the most out of the therapy process. Finally, I strive to make sure they leave the first session with a clear idea of initial steps we will take to try to improve their situation.

Katy Sampson, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist

Sage Psychology Group, 5001 S. Miami Blvd., Durham/RTP, North Carolina 27703

Psychotherapy, the process of exploring, understanding and finding solutions for personal and situational challenges, is often very helpful for people facing a range of issues. In fact, psychotherapy has been shown to have similar effects on the brain as taking commonly prescribed medications for depression and anxiety! I have 14 years of clinical experience and have helped many adults and adolescents to work find relief from distress, deeper self-awareness and greater satisfaction in life. I strive to create a supportive and comfortable atmosphere within which people can explore sometimes difficult topics and find their way towards greater overall wellness.

Gabriella Johr, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

5001 S Miami Blvd, Suite 325, Durham, North Carolina 27703

Studies show that clients make the most gains in therapy when there is a “good fit” between the therapist and client. Finding the right therapist is a personal decision based on the client feeling heard and not judged. I’m a compassionate and perceptive therapist who creates a safe environment for clients to share experiences, gain insight into patterns, and learn new behaviors. I help clients acknowledge and feel proud of their progress in therapy while moving them through the more challenging aspects of our work. My goal is to help my clients feel more satisfied with themselves at work and in relationships.
