I see my job as something that our Aunts used to do in families before we got so mobile in our culture. Those aunts close by who married into the family and had some objectivity and lots of tenderness. Maybe you didn't have one of those aunts, but if you're in the market for one now, you'll have to hire a counselor. I practice psychotherapy and think it is a valuable tool for anyone interested in better understanding themselves. I don't have the answers, but I'm educated and trained to help you clarify what you need to know for yourself. It is fun at times, interesting and difficult. It is painful and relieving as well as frustrating. My style is collaborative, warm and direct.

Psychotherapy, or "talk therapy," is a psychosocial form of mental health treatment used to treat a variety of mental health disorders and concerns. Whether on an individual, family, or group level the primary aim of psychotherapy is to assist individuals with developing increased insight into their experiences and to encourage behavior change in an effort to resolve psychological, emotional, and behavioral difficulties and promote growth. Some forms of psychotherapy focus on thoughts, thoughts processes and beliefs, others focus more so on emotional responses and interpretation of experiences (e.g., the meaning), while others are most concerned with observable behavior.
