I think of therapy as a relationship with another that gently, and without judgment, helps you find another way. I bring 31 years of experience along with cutting edge training in neuroscience, Somatics, Interpersonal Neurobiology, EMDR, Attachment theory and research and meditation as well as energy modalities from Martial Arts, Qi Gong. I am a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. I also teach meditation tools. I help a person become better acquainted with him/herself in mind, body and spirit.

Support, understanding, trust, respect, and honest feedback are the core ingredients for successful life change in therapy. The end results I hope to offer are awareness, healing, growth, and improved life satisfaction. I believe that physical and emotional symptoms are closely related, and that mind, body, and spirit together are all core aspects of human life.

I believe that psychotherapy is a sacred process that allows clients to explore deeply held feelings and beliefs that are impacting their ability to live life as fully and joyfully as possible. I urget clients to explore and challenge feelings and behavior that are holding them back. I also guide clients to generate deep compassion and self love which is the foundating for recovery and healing. Psychotherapy is best done when it is a collaboration between therapist and client, thus making the process tailored to each individuals unique needs and experiences.

Psychotherapy can provide you with insights and concrete strategies for coping and growing. We all have experienced frustrations from childhood that can develop into triggers, provoking intense feelings. Therefore we look for triggers and their roots, explore thoughts and feelings to facilitate understanding and healing. The focus is on new coping skills, relaxation techniques, restructuring your thoughts. You also learn to live more consciously and apply new strategies. It takes time -- it’s like building muscle strength. In close collaboration, we will together monitor your changes and process your reactions to weekly events as they relate our work.

Counseling works because in your relationship with the therapist you develop a better understanding of yourself. In addition, being understood by another (the counselor) is also therapeutic. This is the basic concept of psychotherapy: understanding and being understood. I offer a safe environment with unconditional acceptance where you can have this kind of healing relationship.

Individual therapy can be one of the most exciting journeys one may ever take. The willingness to "look within" with a professional therapist will help you discover new insights, awarenesses and self knowledge.
Looking at your strengths as well as your weaknesses can help you grow. Looking at your fears, your insecuritiees, your esteem, your counter productive behaviors and discovering the "core" can help you break free from negative thoughts, depression and anxiety. Self awareness can lead to a better understanding of self, which will usually lead to better relationships. The quality of your life can be increased on the journey of therapy.

Psychotherapy is a process of closely examining your Self, your life, your challenges, your relationships. It provides people with the chance to weigh their choices and find solutions. Building skills is a large part of the work. Developing trust in the therapist occurs when you feel heard, understood, challenged, and cared about for the person that you are. Psychotherapy can help you feel better emotionally, free up energy, bring joy and peace back into your life and leave you feeling ready to face life on life's terms. I believe that everybody can benefit. You don't have to have severe symptoms, but if you need to feel better in any area of your life, therapy is for you!

If your teen or young adult is feeling isolated and alone, I can help them explore the circumstances that have led them to this place in their life. Sometimes healing is derived from simply gaining understanding of how their life experiences have impacted them and shaped who they are.
I can help your teen or young adult examine how their early childhood experiences have influenced the lens through which they currently view the world. I can also help them evaluate any rules they made up about the meaning of life. Together, we can design a new and more fulfilling story for their future.

Psychotherapy is one of the best and healthiest things you can do for yourself, and for the people you love. Much of the time we can roll with what life throws at us, and much of the time we can handle things on our own. But at some point in almost everyone's life, feelings or circumstances become difficult, and then it's necessary and appropriate to seek out some consultation, some support, and some objective feedback. Seeing things from a new perspective, and learning new skills, can allow you to work through those difficult feelings or circumstances, and let you move forward with hope and new energy. I am here to help. Serving Long Beach CA and Orange County CA.

Psychotherapy is a wonderful avenue to learn about yourself and/or work on your relationships. Building a rapport with your therapist is sometimes the most important element in successful therapy. I base my marriage and family therapy practice on building a safe and supportive relationship with my clients. I do not believe that a client will grow, if a counselor is not genuine and cannot make a real connection with their client. It's the talking cure and it can work if you're motivated and committed to change and improving the quality of your life. Patients tell me that I'm very easy to talk to!

Problems that arise at work, in our friendships and intimate relationships, can often cloud our judgment with anxiety, stress, anger, depression or passive aggressive behavior because we lack proper coping strategies for difficult situations. Because we don’t understand how to best deal with difficult situations, it is not unusual for us to feel overwhelmed, confused, fearful and unable to move forward in our lives. Psychotherapy can awaken us to discover the real reason we choose our behaviors.

Psychotherapy allows a person to discover who they really are. Trust develops within the therapeutic relationship and a person can freely talk about any subject. The therapist does not give advice but is there to listen and offer feedback and help you to learn more about yourself. I am a person-centered therapist believing that clients hold the answers within themselves to grow to be the best they can be. I offer warmth and acceptance in a caring and safe environment giving you the opportunity to be really heard and known as the person that you truly are.

Psychotherapy offers an individually tailored approach to clients' lives, families, relationships. Client(s) and therapist can decide together what approaches may be most helpful. Therapy can also involve referrals to other professionals and/or activities that can support our work. Most importantly, psychotherapy offers a safe haven within which to explore what difficulties clients experience and within which to have opportunities to grow in mindfulness, self-care, relationship skills, boundary-setting, emotional healing etc.

I incorporate a holistic approach to psychotherapy. I believe that it is extremely important to build a rapport with clients as this is the basis of instilling trust and fueling growth. I work with individuals with various issues and use approaches from Psychodynamic, Jungian, Family Systems, Object Relations, Attachment, and Gestalt. Coming into therapy can be scary or unclear. My approach to psychotherapy is cognitive-behavioral. This therapy is a collaborative effort between therapist and client to solve the client’s problems and improve functioning. It is goal-directed and short-term. I work collaboratively with my clients to address current problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be interfering with daily life and relationships. I try to provide rapid relief from uncomfortable symptoms while also promoting long-term behavioral changes which maintain gains and prevent relapse. I help empower clients to become their own therapists rather than foster their dependency on me.
William Josephs, Ph.D.
Psychotherapy enables people to sort-out their life. People are helped to identify problems that concern them and how they are unpleasantly affected. They can identify concerns about their problems. Psychotherapy begins the remediation of their greatest problems. For some people, simply being allowed to express themselves to a psychologist focused upon their distresses and relating understanding about what they are thinking and how they are feeling begins to foster a relationship and trust that assures the person that they can reveal more of themselves safely and be relieved. Cognitive-behavioral methods of tracking thoughts and feelings, and learning to relax further diminishes anguish.

Psychotherapy is an exploration of the internal world of the client, using that person's external experiences as a clue to what the person has experienced and believes about him or herself. When people discuss their life histories and their present difficulties I work with them to understand what the connections are, what they may be reliving and what may be preventing them from making positive and healthier choices and changes in their lives. The focus is on the present, using the past as a source of important information. Most clients experience a new, freer and stronger sense of themselves and a better ability to deal with their relationships and with life's unpredictable events.

Psychotherapy gives us the opportunity to understand and change something that is negatively affecting our lives that we do not understand.
Examples:
Work success unobtainable! I am not liked at work! I Feel hoeless and helpless at times! Romance illudes me! Friendships are few or don't exist at all! I can't get intimate easily! Realtionships come and go! I always seeming pick the wrong people for partners! Its hard for me to set goals! I day dream a lot!
In Psychotherapy we will explore the problems, understand the causes, how they are impacting our lives today. We will identify the areas we want to change, seek out solutions, set goals and work toward resolution.

Psychotherapy can be enormously effective in helping people through difficult times. What are you going through right now? I tend to work with people struggling with difficult relationships, family, or with a day-to-day sense of being overwhelmed with stress. Clients come to therapy looking for relief from feelings of depression and anxiety or to help sort out confusion about work and career. Each person comes to psychotherapy for their own reasons. Call to discuss what you're going through and to make an appointment.

What is keeping you from living the life you want? Individual therapy is a powerful tool to identify goals and remove the obstacles that prevent you from experiencing more fulfilling relationships with yourself, your work, and other people. Individuals come to therapy at different moments in life. If you are experiencing anxiety or depression, struggling with self-esteem or relationship issues, abusing substances, feeling professionally frustrated, or experiencing grief and loss, the process of individual therapy is an effective way to create the change you want to see in your life.

Are you sick of some persistent feeling, thought, behavior, or situation? There is a way out. Your time and money are valuable, thus I use the latest accelerated approaches for change. I use two key elements in therapy: (1) A non-judgmental approach towards your feelings and (2) a process of cause-and-effect discovery. Once my clients accept their "feeling selves" and discover the sources of their current unwanted psychological experiences, they usually experience a "felt shift" -- a lasting transformation that sets them free. To start working towards inner peace, call Thomas today!

Who we are and how we feel about ourselves is brought about, to a large extend, from what we've come to believe about ourselves, through others. And, how we feel about our lives, to a great extent, develops from what we have come to believe about the world, through others. Much of this belief is beyond our everyday awareness. A large part of my work is helping you uncovering these beliefs, and from whom they came. Once revealed, you can feel more freedom to develop your own beliefs about yourself and the world, which in turn leads to your life changing.

Eris Huemer has a masters degree in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduite Institue. "Depth psychotherapy refers to a collection of approach to therapy which value self-awareness, life-long growth and development, life meaning, and depth in intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. Eris marries many theories, which helps her clients understand what helps them feel positive or anxious, as well as accepting their strong and weak points. How can all of this lead you to your Best Self? If people can identify their feelings and ways of thinking they become better at coping with difficult situations and find solutions to create the life that they want and deserve.

I apply the principles of Object-Relations, Psychodynamics, and Interpersonal Family Systems theories into a persons own experiential reality as they freely share their genuine deepest feelings and issues in a safe, trusting, and unconditionally positively accepting environment. My clients are able to work through, process, and resolve many of the long held issues and work to change their dysfunctional coping mechanisms that may have served them well in their developmental years but have since become more of hinderance than a benefit to bringing them the happiness, love, and intimacy they seek.
Cristina Mardirossian, MA., MFT
My approach to therapy is eclectic. I tailor therapy to each client in order to best meet their specific needs. Therapy is a collaborative process designed to bring about relief. Every session is unique and caters to the client and their specific goals. Therapy could be short term (focusing solely on certain issues) or it could be long term (addressing more complex issues or gaining personal growth).
Trish Phillips, M.A., MFT
The psychotherapy relationship can be one of the most beneficial and life changing relationships a person can have. There is no other relationship that is "all about me." I fully engage and am present with my clients in whatever thought or feeling they bring to session. Together we can look at old patterns, family and relationship dynamics, and negative self-talk that may be affecting you today. In a world that can be very harsh and critical, I accept my clients for who they are and encourage them to grow in self-acceptance and care for themselves. I work with my clients to develop a therapy plan that works best for them and listen to what their needs are.

I am a relational therapist, which means that my relationship with the client is the most important aspect of the therapy because it inspires trust, openness, and motivation for change. My belief is that people get stuck in relationships and/or with their work because they have thoughts and beliefs that limit them, or they have conscious or unconscious wounds that block their happiness. My job is to uncover and unravel the sources of the blocks. I draw largely from psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral models to help clients love and accept themselves, which helps them make the changes they desire.

My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental place where I can help my clients reach their full potential by processing feelings (past and present issues), improving communication, and exploring family issues that may be a barrier to success. I have worked with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families with various issues including: Depression, Anxiety, Communication, Coming Out Issues, Increasing Intimacy, Sexual Identity, Attention Problems, Self Esteem, Anger Management, Addiction Issues, Bereavement, Relationship Issues and Trauma.

Psychotherapy is simply a way to become better knowledgeable about your feelings, the way you react to others, the outside world, and yourself. One of my favorite techniques is called Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, which simply means that we can learn how to respond with our thoughts more rationally to our circumstances, then feel differently as a result of more effective thinking. This works well with individuals, couples, and children.
Stuart Kaplowitz, MFT
We all need to put ourselves first sometimes. Unfortunately, we may be too busy for ourselves. If you are discouraged, anxious, angry or your needs are being put on hold, please ask yourself how long will this continue? Reaching out for help is something you deserve. Imgine more of your wants and needs being met. Imagine feeling more hopeful, more optimistic and just plain happier. This can happen. Please don't wait another day.
Erin Sumner, MS, MFT
The purpose of therapy/ psychotherapy is to create positive change and expand happiness. Easy? Definitely not easy, but it can be done. I use a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques to create positive change. Childhood is important, as childhood is when we all learn how to express emotion, respond to emotion, and store emotion. Some of this needs to be "unlearned." I teach clients new skills to change their thinking, relationships, and lives.

I approach psychotherapy with a desire to bring clarity and understanding to the issues presented. I use a number of theoretical approaches in this process with a view to identifying the underlying problem and developing a path for healing, recovery, and personal growth. Most of the people I work with are feeling stuck rather than "sick," so I work developmentally to help them push through the stuck place. I help people find the resources they already have within them and add enrichment and support to get them into the growth process they need.

For every person, couple, or family, there are occasions when things simply become ‘too much’, times at which our best efforts to cope with our problems by ourselves are not as successful as we might wish. Being deeply involved in a problem may even make it more difficult to solve. The pressure, stress, and anxiety may overtax and even overwhelm our own resources.
While we all seek to resolve our problems ourselves, we also reach out to use whatever resources we might have at hand to help us do this. This is what you do by choosing to use psychotherapy to help you. The fact that you can go through a crisis alone does not mean that you must, or even that it is wise to do so. At times, the

Psychotherapy will provide support and feedback to help you resolve current problems and long standing patterns. It is a supportive process that will help you understand the roots of your emotional distress. It will be focused on helping you to communicate without conflict, guilt or bad feelings, redefine your relationships, heal past wounds, talk without criticizing, and listen without defending.
Taji Huang, Ph.D.
My name is Dr. Taji Huang and I have dedicated the past 12 years of my career to the field of mental health in a very broad range of mental health settings. I have had the priviledge of working closely with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples, family and group settings. One of the tools that I use is psychotherapy, which involves regular face-to-face meetings with the psychologist. Sessions typically last between 45-50 minutes, one or more times per week; depending on the case. In this confidential and safe setting, clients have the opportunity to explore personal issues with someone who has unique listening skills.
Judy Zexter, L.C.S.W.
I bring over 15 years of extensive training and direct experience to my psychotherapy practice. With empathy and a non-judgmental stance, I engage individuals, couples and families in an empowering, collaborative process that values client input. I assist people in gaining a solid understanding of how they view themselves, their relationships and their patterns of behavior. When people gain insight into their perceptions and reactions, they can begin to have self influence over their current experiences and forge a path toward happiness and overall well being.

By discussing your inner-most thoughts and feelings with an objective and caring psychologist over a period of several weeks or months, most people begin to gradually discover growth and improvements in many areas of their lives from relationships to employment to general happiness. It is often said that "the unexamined life is not worth living", and most of us would agree.
Ron Jackson, MS
I endeavor to be practical from the first session onward. Each session has a idea, tool or homework designed to bring discovery and insight into the individual or couple. I do look to the past but only for clues that may be effecting today's behavior. So we don't look back to blame anyone. We look back to learn and see things differently. To goal is always future planning and living with healthy choices.
Anthony Fiore, Ph.D.
I do short-term solutions-oriented therapy to help you think differently about yourself and your world and then develop skills to better deal with your issues from the past or to better deal with current areas of difficulty. We start by assessing problem areas, and then deciding together how best to approach them and what result we would like at the end of therapy. Therapy itself involves talking in sessions, and feedback from me,but also many other skill-building activities such as reading, practicing new behaviors between sessions, and doing things to reduce life stress.
Linda Nusbaum, M.A., MFT
Is it time for you to learn about yourself? We are taught a lot of things in our world; how to be a student, how to live in a family, how to work, and how to expect to be happy. Only many times we are not taught about our internal selves and we really don't know what will make us happy. Many of us know what makes us unhappy. Why not discover what brings you joy?
This is psychotherapy; a journey into yourself, gaining an understanding of YOU? It may become the most fascinating journey of your life, and it may bring you the tools you are missing to create a joyous, peaceful, loving existence. Don't wait to become your best you.

I have been in practice for over 40 years working with people who struggle with all of the challenges of living in a complex, ever changing world. Psychotherapy is an exciting journey of self-discovery. It is a collaborative effort between patient and therapist. In my years of practice I have developed a variety of approaches to help people work through early trauma, current life situations, and immediate crises. Some people will benefit from a humanistic approach, while others from a psychoanalytic or cognitive-behavior approach. One of the benefits of having been in practice for several decades is that I can tailor the treatment to fit the needs of the patient.

"When you choose the highest good for yourself, you have chosen the highest good for everyone." We'll be talking about your life events, thoughts and feelings each week. We may also look at the dreams you've had to stay in touch with deep inner currents. Coming to terms with change, growth, and direction will help you to clarify goals and support you in making the right choices.

The most successful people have benefited from a course of therapy. Knowledge is power and self-knowledge makes you powerful. To learn what you don't know about yourself can help you avoid trouble at work, at home and with your own happiness. I think everyone deserves to invest in themselves, after all you take you everywhere! My first question is often, "If our conversations were successful and we were done, what would your life look like?" Not an easy question to answer because we are pretty clear about what we don't want. It's important to clarify what you want your life to look like if you had considered it successful at the end of it. My therapy is solution-focused.
Carl H. Shubs, Ph.D.
The issue is not what happened to you, it’s the impact it had and how you are able to deal with it. Psychotherapy helps.
It involves our talking together to address the problems you’re having in your life. We’ll see what works, what doesn’t, why not, what you’ve tried, and what other options there may be. We’ll look to understand how the difficulties came to be and what gets in the way of changing them. We’ll see what’s happening in your life now and how old patterns of thinking and behaving may interfere for you. We’ll explore other alternatives. I strongly believe people can change, and I see that happening in my office regularly. You’d be surprised how therapy can change your life.
Natalia Voinov, Ph.D.

Psychotherapy is a safe healing place for a person. It is about trust in the therapeutic relationship, as well as about the process of working through very difficult things from both the past and the present. Rather then jumping to conclusion, I believe psychotherapy is a place to know that it's okay to take your time and explore aspects of yourself that you would have never otherwise identified.
Heather Browne, PsyD, MA, LMFT
Finding the right therapist is vital to the growth and healing of the individual. My goal is to uncover what my clients need and find ways to help them activate this within session and within their lives. I am very active, encouraging, using humor and stories or videos to help them reframe the areas were they are stuck or confused. My goal is to help them see that the tapes that they believe are no longer helping them and to give them the freedom to see themself with new eyes.
Richard Oelberger, PhD
Learn how to unlock your inner potential by expressingm unfolding and discovering inner truths through shared inner experience. Present material in a nonjudgemental environment with inquisitve introspective work and practical exercises utilized to help test and overcome challenges and emotional struggles. Therapy is designed to provide a safe and comfrotable environment to discuss personal struggles on a emotional, spiritual, career, or relationship level.
Cindy Kludt, M.A., LMFT
People come to see me because they are either in emotional pain, or because some aspect of their life is not working well and they want to improve it. I help people feel better and improve their negative situation by teaching how they have been negatively conditioned and how they (unconsciously) continue to negatively condition themselves. Through conscious, mindful awareness, they learn how they are in control of their own emotions and their own actions. Once they understand how this is done, they can consciously determine and on purpose change negative emotions and habits that don't work for them and they feel better and are more successful in all aspects of their lives.
Rebecca Kahane, MA, LMFT
I believe that my clients have the internal resources to find their way. My job is not as an advice giver but as a guide that helps the client to part the clouds of uncertainty, giving way to clarity, insight, vision and passion. I work with the client on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level using an eclectic approach to treatment. I am a very interactive therapist, challenging the client to stretch themselves in order to make changes towards a more happy and fulfilling life.
