Mount Vernon New York is the eighth largest city in the state. It has been classified as a hodgepodge of culture, even perhaps the most ethnically diverse region in the state. However, there is more to the city than just cultural variety. The city's current mayor had vowed to establish Mount Vernon as an industrial epicenter. The city's downtown has only slightly diverted from its 1960s construction, but because of recent efforts, Mount Vernon's economy is steadily growing. There are other means of attraction to the town aside from its fiscal focus. Mount Vernon's South Side neighborhood is where most of the city's recreations lie. The Boy's and Girl's Club in this area was made famous by Denzel Washington, as he attended the facility starting at six years of age. South Side also has a shopping district, parks, and a national historic site known as St. Paul's Church.1

Family Services is a non-profit agency, so many of its programs are funded by generous grants and donations, making them highly affordable or even free of charge.
