This is a 12 week program where we develop what career you want and what you need to do to get there. It is goal oriented where you will be coached in gaining clarity and taking action.

I don't do formal career counseling, but enjoy counseling entrepreneurs, business men and women, and performing artists. We would help you develop better assertiveness skills, clarify direction, improve motivation, encourage and guide you in negotiating higher salaries and rates, and cope with job/career crisis and change. I have worked with many people who lost their jobs in the current economic downturn. I also have a specialty working with performing artists to help them find satisfying jobs that allow them to pursue their art, and work with them on stage fright, creative blocks, and balancing relationship/work.

Our qualified career counselors provide counseling to traditional aged students who are unsure about what direction to take in their career goals or who are excited about their new chosen careers. We assist adults who have experienced downsizing, been fired, are laid off, are underemployed, or are reaching retirement. We guide those who are generally unhappy with their career paths. Career dissatisfaction can lead to depression, anxiety, and decreased self-worth. Our experienced counselors assist people to have a more enjoyable, richer, fulfilling work lives. We want to help you find your passion. Attain your goals for both personal and financial satisfaction.

Careers are integral to the identities of many people, while for others careers are simply means for attaining a happy life. Whether you’re developing your first career or looking to switch careers, I use a combination of assessment batteries and counseling to explore my clients’ goals, preferences, and aptitudes to identify their career path and develop a plan for achieving it.

A career is often a major part of one's life, and finding a disconnect between what you do and your values or interests can be destabilizing and painful. I offer in depth discussions on values, interests, work/life balance goals, and lifestyle goals in order to find a career that aligns. All are unique and important components that need to be considered when determining a job switch or addition. It's a big life change and emotional support in therapy throughout the change is incredibly important as well.

Im here to help you navigate the process of exploring possibilities, while creating a reasonable, individualized plan of action to help you get clarity and move forward with the next right step in your path of confidently choosing a meaningful career you can succeed in.

I leverage a solution-based approach to clearly outline your primary challenge, work through an exercise to meditate on and define your future state and then work over 8 sessions to achieve it via homework and 1:1 sessions. Clients have experienced great success with this approach, my goal is to empower you - YOU have the answers and I want to help you find them.

Career Counseling will look like life coaching in sessions using an individualized plan to formulate goals, identify strengths, discuss interests and using a guide to assist in career development, and insights will be discovered in how to better gain a sense of fulfillment at work. Learning ways to find a job, build connections, and become employable will also take place.

In my approach to career counseling, I focus on the mental health aspects of professional growth, helping clients gain clarity about their goals, strengths, and passions. Rather than offering technical assistance like resume building, I prioritize deeper self-exploration through personalized assessments and in-depth discussions. Together, we explore career options, skill development, and strategies to overcome emotional or mental challenges that may hinder professional success. Clients benefit by gaining confidence, creating actionable plans, and aligning their career paths with their personal values and long-term aspirations.

As a psychotherapist, I can help you make decisions about your career life. The difference between a career coach and a psychotherapist is that I will help you understand the underlying emotional needs you have and in what ways they are driving your career path in one direction or another. To make a change in career is to acknowledge that there might be conflicting needs for personal stability, adventure, and financial security. Two fundamental questions I will help you answer is "Why do I want to change careers?" and "Why now?"

Finding or changing a career requires understanding your own values, skills and goals, and what the job market is like. Here are some questions that should be answered: are you suited to entrepreneurship or is steadiness a priority? Do you follow managers easily at a job or do you need to be given leadership responsibility and trust? What kind of skills do you have, what kind of income do you need. Above all, what will motivate you so you feel that you are using your full potential? A lifetime of both working for others, and running a consulting business for 30 years, means I can help you navigate the important and greatly varied world of work, finding meaning and earning income each day.

I help clients clarify their needs rather than needs sculpted through years of compliance with a partner or spouse. The client who is confused or feels lost is asked to slow down the thinking process to get more in touch with the feeling process. This intergrates emotions and feelings and can further guide my client into a path she can be excited about. Now hope comes alive.

While most career counselors love to give you capacity based profiles of what your talents and interests are for your best bet career choices, Grey Matters international believes that most people make predictably irrational decisions and then after making them learn way to make them fit into their identities using various types of rationalizations and strategies.
