I believe in treating the whole person - the bio-psycho-social-spiritual parts - and believe they cannot be separated but rather influence and interact with one another.
By assessing each of these parts, the client(s) and I can work together toward self-discovery and in understanding how the parts are working against each other to create strife and struggle.
Doing therapy from a systems perspective, I believe that how a client identifies themselves is impacted by their relationships - family, community, work, etc. Examining these relationships can help to uncover the roadblocks, which prevent you from moving forward, healing, and growing.
I help people to access their strengths and focus on solutions and possibilities through encouragement, support, candidness and requiring a commitment to honesty and hard work.
I believe that simply showing up to therapy does not equal effort, but that a commitment and devotion to work on the relationship(s) outside the therapy space creates the best opportunity for success.
Therapy is not the last resort, but rather a new opportunity for lasting change.
