Judy received a bachelor of science in nursing in 1988 from CMSU, and a master of science in counseling in 2009 from UCM. She completed clinical internships in a private practice, and an in-patient unit for trauma based disorders. She is a registered nurse, licensed professional counselor, national certified counselor, and EMDRIA certified therapist and approved consultant. She is fully licensed to practice in the state of Missouri, and is an approved supervisor.
Her practice focus includes anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, stress management, women’s issues, and couples. Judy enjoys working with clients of all ages, from small children to adults seeking healing and richness in life in their mature years.
Judy provides HAP and EMDRIA consultation to therapists being trained or seeking certification in EMDR.
In therapy, Judy uses a theoretical approach that represents both best practice and the client’s needs. Some of the approaches used include cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based, EMDR, play therapy, and supportive therapies. Judy is a Christian by personal faith and walk, and incorporates spirituality into counseling as the client prefers.
Judy holds memberships in the Christian Association for Psychological Studies, American Counseling Association, Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association, Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society, EMDR International Association, and EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program.
