I am a veteran of the United States Air Force. I was trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist in collaboration with Friends University and Christ First Counseling Center in Topeka. My qualifications include a Masters in Science in Marriage and Family Therapy with a license to practice in Kansas, a B.A. in Elementary Education and years of experience as a Registered Nurse in both ICU and mental health.

I have been married for 20 years, have lost three children, am the father of a living son, healed from trauma, and survived a marital separation. After all of that, I am in more love today, with a better sex life, than I have ever been. A therapist helped me get there. There is hope for your life too.

Not only do I have the training to help you, you'll find that I frequently have done the very things I ask of you and that it allowed me to have the life I once hoped for.

There are no broken people. We all want good things. Let me help you to free yourself of the oppression of addiction and painful experiences, to find the courage to live life as it was meant to be, and to give and get the love we all want.

Though able to help with many things, my particular areas of expertise are partner relational difficulty, helping individuals and families cope with severe mental illness, sexual intimacy, career, anxiety, self esteem, depression and parenting.

Here, freedom and hope are possible. Together, we may find the significant relationship you once dreamed of, see children who are joyful and respectful, peace instead of sadness and anxiety, career direction, and comfort in loss.

We will collaborate goals and interventions.  Since this is a partnership, I will frequently ask if I am giving what you need.  Typically, most couples get what they need in ten to fifteen sessions; closer to ten.  Some couples decide to continue to grow with me indefinitely.  As we progress, we will discuss how much longer we need to meet, all giving input.  Some people believe that maintenance is helpful, usually once a month.  Ultimately, you are the authority on assessing whether or not you have reached your goals or would like to simply keep growing. We also offer no records for increased confidentiality.

I admire your courage for entering into therapy.  You may experience many things.  I assure you that this is normal and part of the change process.  Don't be surprised if you experience anger, joy, frustration, relief, hope, fear, and/or disorientation.

Thank you for considering me to enter this sacred place with you.
