The 12-Steps are vitally important for a person to acknowledge an addiction and, in a community of support, begin working on achieving and managing a life commitment sobriety. I find clients working the steps some of the most dynamic, courageous and compassionate people. I support them at every level in their working and living the steps and use my experience to help clients address and heal from states of unaddressed chronic emotional pain. This swirling state of emotional chaos is what makes sobriety achievement and sustainability so difficult. Addressing and resolving these areas of chronic emotional pain greatly reduces the fuel source that supplies the engine of addiction.

Addictions can come in many forms. Alcohol, drugs, food, shopping, overworking, codependency on others and they all cause problems personally and in relationships. Seeking help is important. We usually find ourselves using other substances, things and people, when we don't have the coping skills to handle the stresses, or unresolved issues that we have. Therapy can give you the tools you need to avoid using your addictions.
