Feeling anxiety can be a natural response to help us deal with threats in our environment. Anxiety stops being helpful when experienced in safe, everyday situations. Excessive anxiety may start to negatively affect one's emotional well-being, relationships with others, health, career, and identity. I specialize in anxiety treatment and can help you develop healthy coping skills and thinking through evidence-based techniques and therapies. Together, I work with clients to create meaningful goals and work towards a more manageable, satisfying life. Treatment consists of a combination of Psychoeducation, Psychotherapy (cognitive and behavioral), and referrals for medications (if needed).

Stress occurs in everyone's life, but anxiety can be experienced personally in ways which cause difficulty. Through talking and learning about anxiety, we can strengthen coping skills, look at family dynamics which help or hinder, and change patterns to better deal with and overcome anxiety. Life can be more comfortable as we learn how to cope and continue to grow and develop.

Anxiety can develop a life of its own in our minds, and slowly take over our thoughts and actions. Taking control of anxiety first involves learning how to take control of one's thoughts. When I am working with clients whose goal is to take control of anxiety and stress in their lives, we focus together on managing one's thought process throughout each day, examining daily life for changes that can decrease stress, and discuss interpersonal changes that can also play a role in gaining control of stress.

While most treatment approaches for anxiety and stress are effective on the surface, they don’t treat the real problem. Mantras, deep breathing, and rational dialogues about your fear being irrational rarely work---for most people don’t believe it or you! Imagine if you can trick the brain into changing without you telling your conscious mind that you are changing it? Problem with anxiety and stress is that the brain in this state knows you want to change it and it resists. Contact for the ultimate stress and anxiety solution that will literally change your brain's autonomic nervous system patterns while you sit on your butt. 877-606-6161.

People have told me that anxiety feels like a rubber band being stretched to its breaking point. In fact I've felt that myself, but never described it so well. As unpleasant as it feels, it serves to force us to look for solutions to problems. Sometimes we can't take our minds off of them. The anxiety worsens when we don't like the answers, or can't choose between a few, or, sometimes, can't define the problem but we know it's there. I will teach you quick, time honored techniques that generally ease anxiety quickly, and often help people sleep better and focus better so that problems and issues can be addressed one-step-at-a-time, via traditional counseling.

Anxiety can be the result of unresolved trauma leaving the individual in a heightened physiological state of arousal which has the potential to reactivate the old trauma, as is often the case with Post-Traumatic Stress. Some may experience panic attacks as a result of anxiety. Whatever the cause, anxiety can be reduced if not resolved completely with therapy. My clients investigate possible roots of their anxiety and learn coping skills to help them deal with stressful triggers by investigating what provokes their anxiety and what thoughts or physical sensations accompany it. Also, clients determine and rate how distressing the anxiety is and implement appropriate coping skills.
