I became a counselor because I felt called to help people--I experienced pain, loss, and some very dark times in my life, and in each of these experiences I have also experienced God's love, mercy, and healing. I want others to experience this too, to know the hope and healing that I have seen in others' lives and my own.
In times of suffering, God may seem very distant and even uncaring. But He does care and He wants to be there for you in your darkest moments.

Incorporating spirituality into counseling is a part of a holistic approach. This can involve gaining a sense of connection with matters of spirit, whether it is experiences of nature, prayer or devotion. Incorporating spirituality into psychotherapy can also promote the emotional healing process, with growth in feeling and being better connected with the world, and feeling more whole.

While I do not bill myself as a Biblical Counselor, I do use a lot of wisdom from Jesus and the Bible as well as wisdom from the Eastern traditions, in a non-denominational transpersonal practice. To me life and relationships are spiritual journeys to be explored and mastered. Traits such as humility, surrender, gratitude, service, devotion, awe, and mystery are integral to my methods and style of doing therapy and couples counseling.

I have worked with many Christians and know for a fact that when faith is important to a clients, they need to incorporate that in therapy. I received my training from a Christian college and Seminary, so applying prayer or scripture and exploring your theological or spiritual questions in your healing process is something I provide for clients when they ask. My clients and I may be of a different denomination, but be rest assured, I do not push my view down their throats. This is your process and I want you and God to lead us in our work. I do provide a free consultation, when clients ask. Hope to see you. Blessings to you.

I engage in both Christian as well as Spiritual counseling. Prayers, novenas and references to certain scriptures may be used if considered acceptable to the client. Each individual is respected as having a unique position and relationship with God. Spiritual counseling incorporates a spiritual dimension with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It tends to produce a stronger intimacy with God as well as to bring deep healing in your innermost being that has been through a lot or wounded. This approach tends to heal in it's own magical way as there is believe and hope due to trust in God. God has no favorites, and wants to see all of us healed. We are just a little lost trying to get there.

I grew up in the Christian tradition and am comfortable working with people who find their faiths important to them (both conservatives and liberals). Prayer can be a powerful way of strengthening who we are psychologically. Many couples with a religious tradition find that praying together is another way of being intimate and setting intentions together. We can have empowering relationships to religion and spirituality and we can suffer from oppressive views of ourselves due to religious and spiritual abuse. If you are questioning your faith, sometimes it can be helpful to learn how to hold onto the blessings and the Grace and not "throw the Baby out with the bath water".

We as people are burdened with the reality of being fully integrated creatures. The human mind is so complicated that we are not only conscious of our feelings, behaviors, choices, etc., but are furthermore conscious of our very consciousness. In that consciousness is a mystical part of life that gives us a sense of ourselves. Depending on your culture you might refer to this as a spirit, Self, identity, soul, etc. However, due to life complications, that feeling can be put into question in a variety of ways. If you are questioning yourself and beliefs with respect to your place in the world please call me. I can help guide your thinking through dialogue so you can find your own truth.

I pray in my sessions. I begin and end every session with prayer. In addition to the Biblical guidance I use my education and professional training to help individuals, couples, families, children, elderly to reach their potential and their desired goal.
