About Winkler, MB

Winkler is located in southern Manitoba with a population around 9,600.  It is, however, the largest city in the Pembina Valley and is considered the centre or hub for agriculture, commerce and other industries.  Winkler is also Manitoba’s sixth largest city and is one of the fastest growing in the area.  The city dates back to 1874 when the Russian Mennonites settled the area. However, it wasn’t until 1888 when the first Mennonite Brethren congregation was established, as a direct result of missionary work from the United States.  Counselling Winkler, MB brings harmony and balance back into your life so that you are fully equipped to make the right choices to move through your issues.  The city was named after Valentine Winkler when it was officially founded in 1892.  Due to the demand for a market, Winkler got the Canadian Pacific Railway to build a route just northeast of the town.  Winkler was incorporated in 1906 as a village and later as a town in 1954.
