Meet Karen Brown, MA, LPC-S
Karen's clients will gladly tell you that she is "The No BS Counselor". She knows that people don't just need a good listener. They want guidance, answers, advice, and direction. Karen will never tell you what you want to hear but rather what you need to hear. She works with individual adults and couples. and will incorporate family therapy when it is warranted.
Karen is recognized for her expertise in conflict resolution, relationship repair. and communication skills training. She received her mediation training from Southern Methodist University and uses the skills she gained there often with couples who disagree on emotionally charged issues such as money managememt, parenting, communication, intimacy and time management. She has helped many couples who were ready to "throw in the towel".
She spent the first 15+ years of her working life in the business world before becoming a psychotherapist. The career change was the best decision she ever made. Karen is the owner of Dallas Counseling and Wellness Center where she has the privilege of being a therapist and running a business that focuses on helping people as well. She is a state authorized supervisor of counselor interns and is a popular speaker on various mental health topics.

Meet Jennifer Dickerson, MA, LPC
Jennifer works with adults, couples, teens and families. At the core of her work, she feels strongly that for people to reach their highest potential,, they must develop healthy coping skills and a positive self-image. That's where her counseling skills come in! Jennifer's style of therapy is non-judgmental and down-to-earth, and her clients find her very easy to relate to.
Jennifer has experience in a variety of areas including relationship and sex issues, depression, anxiety, parenting, grief, eating disorders, and substance abuse. She uses a combination of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients change their negative beliefs and thought patterns.
Before joining Dallas Counseling and Wellness Center, Jennifer worked at Children's Medical Center in inpatient psychiatry and at a University Behavioral Health Center. She is originally from California and has been in Texas since 2005. She is married and has two young sons.

Meet Leslie B. Miller, MA, LPC
Simply put - Leslie is straightforward, candid, and results oriented. She does not pull any punches in helping her clients get what they want out of life. Leslie is an expert on premarital and marital counseling, and helps couples strengthen and enrich their bond. She addresses the emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual areas of a couples' life together and utilizes homework, exercises, and role playing to help them reach their goals.
Leslie is also a specialist in substance abuse. She knows what it takes to get sober and stay sober. While working with the entire family system, she addresses issues such as entitlement, anger, and self-esteem. She conducts both court-ordered and voluntary substance abuse evaluations.
Leslie has a women's group that addresses issues such as relationships, co-dependence, sexuality, stress, body image, parenting, and anxiety. She is a specially trained Parenting Facilitator where she works with high-conflict couples in co-parenting their children in a healthy way, implementing parenting plans, and adhering to any court orders that have been issued.
Leslie had a 15 year career in corporate marketing and sales before entering the mental health field. She has been married for 23 years and has one son.

Meet Denise Winegard, MA, LPC
Denise works with young children, adolescents and adults and families. Though her practice includes clients of all ages, young children hold a special place in her heart and she connects well with them. When appropriate she often uses play therapy, art therapy and playing games as a way of entering the world from the child's perspective. Denise is a pro at addressing the management of ADHD, ODD,(Oppositional Defiant Disorder) and other childhood behavioral problems.
With all clients Denise has the skills and expertise to help those suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mood disorders. She also has specific expertise and training in the field of substance abuse and addictions.
Denise frequently uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify distorted thought processes that are holding them back. She assists clients in developing healthier ways of thinking and healthier coping skills. She helps you put new tools in your life skills toolbox.

Meet Ron Johnson, MS, LPC-Intern, Career Coach
Ron works with adults, couples, and adolescents, and he has a reputation for being a "straight shooter". As a middle age man, he brings a lot of real life wisdom to the practice of counseling. And he also utilizes the mentoring and coaching skills he used with executives and staff members during the 25 years he spent in corporate America.
Ron has overcome a lot adversity in his life and he knows what it takes to identify the reality of where you are in your life, to determine where you want to go, and to establish a plan to get there. If you need advise guidance in your career with work-life balance, a difficult co-worker or boss, or how to get off of the fence and excel, he can help.
Ron enjoys working with couples to help them connect on a deeper level and thrive in their journey together. Fulfilling relationships require a lot of work and devotion, but they should also be fun and life-enhancing. His 27 year marriage is proof that if you want it badly enough you can make it happen.
Ron also works with preteens and teens ages 10-19. As an experienced father of two grown boys he can definitely help with the challenges and obstacles your children and you face today. In his spare time Ron enjoys spending time cycling and with his family.
