I entered the field of counseling with a deep passion for helping individuals from diverse backgrounds heal from past experiences and live more authentic lives aligned with their personal values. It brings me immense meaning and fulfillment to walk alongside my clients as they navigate through both challenging times and moments filled with joy, witnessing their growth and transformation.
To equip myself with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care, I pursued a Masters of Science in Counseling at Southern Methodist University. This comprehensive program allowed me to develop a strong foundation in counseling theories, techniques, and ethical practices. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in Texas, I am committed to upholding high standards of professionalism while delivering compassionate support.
Recognizing the importance of specialized training, I have also sought additional certifications in specific therapeutic modalities. One such modality is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which has proven highly effective in treating trauma-related issues by facilitating healing on both cognitive and emotional levels. Additionally, I have completed Gottman levels I & II for Couples Therapy training, enabling me to provide evidence-based interventions that strengthen relationships.
Over the course of seven years working as a therapist and Director within both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs focused on addiction recovery and co-occurring mental health disorders, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals across various stages of life. This experience has given me valuable insights into the complexities surrounding addiction recovery processes as well as expertise in addressing co-occurring mental health challenges that often accompany substance use disorders.
One area where my expertise particularly shines is working with at-risk youth and adolescents who require specialized support. Adolescence can be an especially vulnerable time for young individuals facing various pressures from peers or family dynamics while navigating their own identity formation process. By creating an environment built on trust, empathy, respect, cultural sensitivity,and non-judgment, I strive to empower young individuals to explore their emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and build resilience.
In my counseling approach, I prioritize person-centered care. I firmly believe that each individual and family is unique, possessing their own set of experiences, traits, cultural backgrounds,and goals. Within the therapeutic space we create together,your voice takes center stage; you are empowered to guide our sessions according to your needs and preferences. By fostering open and honest relationships based on trust and acceptance,I aim to create a safe environment where you can freely express yourself without fear of judgment.
