Integrative Psychotherapy

As an experienced, licensed, mental health counselor and teacher of yoga and consciousness for many decades, I have been at the forefront of the body-and emotions-oriented movement within the psychotherapy field.  I help individuals, couples and families overcome all kinds of emotional and mood disorders, addiction/compulsions, trauma, grief and loss, communication issues, reactivity, and Couples and Intimacy.  My clients report that they develop heartfelt, happy, inter-connected, grounded and purpose-filled lives.  Working with me, you will:

  • Broaden your ability to witness, and express skillfully, what is actually present in you, through Somatic Awareness and Focusing (body and mindfulness techniques)
  • Emotionally regulate: learn methods that work for you for dealing with all kinds of emotional states
  • Drop perfectionism and gain self-love, which then expand the lens through which you see yourself and others
  • Develop the insight that leads to change, and the commitment to changing behaviors, by bringing to light your subconscious patterns of thinking and behavior (known as working with your Shadow material)
  • Refine your Emotional Intelligence and Emotionally Focused connections with your partner, or others close to you
  • Raise your level of differentiation: discovering, staying true to and focused on your own experience without being pulled into another’s experience or reactivity
  • Fine-tune Communication: understand and work with different styles and build negotiation skills
  • Develop empathy and compassion—the ability to stand in another’s shoes, and stay open and kind no matter whether there are disagreements or unresolved issues

Using the lenses of Mind, Emotions, Body, Energy and Spirit, I help clients work pinpoint and directly work with "problem thinking and behaviors," both in themselves and others, by looking at underlying--often unconscious--beliefs that cause suffering.  Through therapy with me you will discover more freedom, by having more choices available to you in how you respond to situations, being more truly present in your body, refining your experience of your emotions, developing mindfulness and the ability for your right and left brains to "talk to each other" more fluidly, show up in all your relationships in a more grounded, clear and kind way, and if you so choose, deepen your spiritual life.

My background includes:

  • My own powerful healing journey from complex childhood trauma, catastrophic loss, addiction and existential crisis (meaning: I walk my talk)
  • Masters degree in Applied Behavioral Science, with an emphasis in Family Systems, from the Leadership Instiutue of Seattle/Bastyr University, 2005
  • Specialized training in Trauma, Body-oriented Psychotherapy, Somatic Psychology, Energy medicine, Gestalt, as well as being Certified Yoga Therapist
  • Couples work with John and Julie Gottman, Emotionally-focused therapies with Sue Johnson, Gay and Kathleen Hendricks, Doug and Naomi Moseley, and Imago Couples Therapy.
