I specialize in helping clients who are experiencing challenges or dissatisfaction with their careers, relationships, or within and are ready to do the work to enact change. Whether our work involves examining and reframing past experiences or constructing a life plan for the future, I am devoted to helping my clients through the process. As a result of a trusting client-therapist relationship my clients are empowered to navigate challenging life situations and achieve alignment of values, vision, and goals.
My approach is based on the Humanistic, "person-centered" model of Carl Rogers in the service of helping clients find their authentic life paths. When appropriate, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients modify their unproductive thinking patterns and behaviors to gain greater satisfaction from life. For career counseling I utilize various assessment instruments as well as weekly exercises to help my clients clarify goals, identify roadblocks, and reach their full potential.
My professional experience includes group and individual therapy from local agencies as well as the private sector. I have worked with individuals, and groups on issues such as career, divorce, depression, anxiety, anger management, social skills, and grief and loss. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward's University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern, member of the Texas Counseling Association, and a member of the American Counseling Association.
