I believe children are very intelligent and know exactly what they need, but they often don't know how to communicate that. As a result, they may act out or in, create unhealthy symptoms, and begin to feel all alone. Through play therapy, I help children find their voice, learn to express feelings and identify needs appropriately, and learn healthy coping skills. I also work with the family, to set boundaries that support their child/children in the growth and progress they are making. As the child changes, so does the family. Growth happens with everyone, and life is never the same.

I have been working with children and families in various capacities since the beginning of my career in 2000. I am committed that children have a voice in their families and that families work. Although today I specialize more in working with teens and their families I do work with children as young as 7 years old depending on family involvement, reason seeking therapy, and maturity of the child. Curious to see if my approach would be a fit for you and your child(ren) give me a ring 954-401-9011.

So many child behavior and parenting problems simply vanish, once we understand a few basics. Children are not small adults, and should not be expected to respond the way adults do. Children, like everyone else, respond beautifully to praise, love and reward. By contrast, punishment creates only resentment and the motivation to not get caught. All the particulars flow from these simple truths. Even the most defiant and disrespectful children can quickly come around, if we simply pay a little more attention to connecting praise and rewards to desirable behavior, and withholding them for unwanted behavior.

Small children aged 3 to 8 typically do not participate in family therapy because the vast majority of therapists consider such children too young to articulate their feelings or understand complex patterns of behavior. Butler thinks otherwise, as she perfects her skills using an approach called narrative therapy. Often described as “post-modern,” narrative therapy allows clients to put away old, tired versions of the stories they tell themselves [and everybody else] about their lives. Playing more to the clients’ strengths than their weaknesses, the approach urges clients to see themselves as much more than the presenting problem and to identify ways in which they are already taking steps

One of the most useful tools that I use in working with young children and their parents are behavior modification plans or also known as token economy. Behavior modification plans can be implemented with various problem areas a child may be facing. Some problem areas could be motivation, hygeine, ADHD, and defiance. These are to name only a few. I work closely with the family and child to see a productive outcome.

I help children process their emotions through play and other proven therapies. If your child has experienced an emotional upset, trauma or difficulty, I provide a safe, neutral and supportive environment for them to express their feelings and become "regulated." Their behavior will shift and they will cope with their feelings and circumstances in a new and positive way. I have worked extensively with at-risk children in the most stressful circumstances. Through play therapy, behavioral therapy and other evidence based techniques, I can assist your child with a wide range of problems, behaviors and disorders, as well as providing parenting support and education. Many times, child therapists overdo the family system in their quest to seek effective solutions for emotional, learning or behavioral concerns with young children. And many times doctors overpathologize issues that shouldn’t be medicated necessarily. This leaves parents wondering what is the best route for their child? Introducing brainwave optimization technology. A fast, effective, natural, and less expensive way to allow your child's brain to make the optimizing changes it desires to make---on its own! Without any external force, opinion, medication, diagnostic, etc. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 877-606-6161.

One of the things that makes our practice special is that we use the whole family as part of the process to help young children reach their goals. We have found that the outcome is faster and more successful when more members are involved to help the child reach his or her goals. We provide a relaxed and comfortable environment for children and their families to explore their issues and work together towards a more happy life.
