Ann Wilson, MA, MBA
Families often struggle with the issues of independence vs dependence, control vs freedom, and rigidity vs flexibility. Family members have their unique personalities that bump up against one another. I work with the Enneagram (a map for understanding nine different perspectives of reality) to help families better understand and honour each others' perspectives. I use a relational approach which brings family members into greater contact with each other and exposes more truth and vulnerability.

Children are often the "identified patients" within a family environment. The child's behavior often reflects the dysfunctions within the family system. Family systems are set up to reinforce function or dysfunction and the executive system (parent(s) figures) serves to model beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that set the standard for the family. All members are respected and cared for in a safe and trusting environment that allows for growth and intimacy.

The dynamics between family members are essential for any family therapy. By looking at family structure, boundaries, communication patterns and individual roles we can better understand any concerns the family may be having. Many difficulties stem from one or more of these issues that we can look at in detail to determine if there is a more successful way to function and problem solve. For appropriate family therapy, it is best to have all family members present for sessions.
Elizabeth Hooks, M.Ed., Psy.D.
I believe that the family plays an important role in supporting youth. Therefore, I often integrate family therapy in my treatment approach. In developing interventions, I draw from research in resiliency and positive psychology in order to try and strengthen coping skills and resources for my clients as well as their families. I also believe it is important to take a collaborative approach in working with clients in order to respect and cultivate their perspectives, cultural values, and beliefs.

I was trained in clinical family therapy and utilize it often when parents bring their kids in to me because of one reason or another. Family therapy, and looking at the system that has been created by each family is imperative to help children succeed in their worlds. I have seen amazing healing come from families who all take responsibility and work together to create a more loving and positive life experience for everyone involved. I specialize in high conflict families and families of divorce.

The definition of family has changed quite a bit over recent years. In essence, it is a place where we find belonging and comfort, so when there are issues within the family it can be very painful. Exploring the nature of your family, where your beliefs and rituals come from, and the dynamics of your family is essential in finding the way back to the peace and harmony we all look for in our families.
Casey Ryan, M.A.
Family Therapy is a branch of psychotherapy that works with families and couples in intimate relationships to nurture change and develop together. It emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health. When working with the whole family system and involving them in the solution to an issue, it is often beneficial. This can create differences between the ways family members perceive mutual relations as well as interaction patterns.
David Ragsdale, MA, LPC
Parents and grandparents are often stressed as they seek to provide a healthy home environment . Children and teenagers can develop symptoms such as anxiety and depression or experience trauma. As parents seek to work together and find solutions to their pressing problems they may value from family therapy. Bringing members of the family together in a session helps to rebuild trust, strengthen communication and resolve conflict more effectively.
