On April 12, 2015, Hillary Clinton made the long-awaited announcement that she’s entering the 2016 U.S. presidential race. Part of the public discourse around her candidacy is the issue of sexism; is Hillary being treated differently (worse) because she’s a woman. Or maybe there’s something more basic at work here. Something fundamental to all living things. It could be that homeostasis is the common denominator driving what can otherwise be viewed simplistically as bigoted behavior in politics.

Society is growing up. Many parts of the world are experiencing great wealth from technology, entrepreneurship, oil, industrialization and so on. But the progress of society is held back by violent treatment of women. Today, violence in the forms of physical, sexual and emotional abuse runs rampant throughout the world.

Women tend to strive more for excellence; to prove themselves. Not that men don't feel they need to prove themselves, but women have an extra push to show that they are smart, knowledgeable, capable, and able to handle just about anything and everything. Research shows that women are still not as "committed" as men. Women are often referred to as bossy when they are actually being assertive.
