Anger is a healthy human emotion that alerts us when something or someone needs to stop or start something. When we can recognize this response in our body, identify what we need, and navigate healthy ways to get that need met, anger can be one of our greatest allies. When we react from this often intense emotion instead of mindfully responding, it can be a cause of significant distress in our lives. Counseling assists in developing skills to navigate anger and other emotions in ways that increases needs getting met, as well as, the development of healthy relationships.

I have extensive experience working with anger management. While working in rehab, I provided two groups per week regarding anger management. Anger can be a difficult emotion that can lead to inappropriate verbal and physical outbursts. It can be difficult for parents to deal with when their children are destroying objects or hurting one another, or themselves. Children also tend to copy how parents express anger. I have worked with many parents who are worried about their children becoming verbally aggressive, only to find that they themselves have difficulty expressing anger appropriately. Treatment for anger involves recognizing physical symptoms, thinking, and patterns of behavior.

Is one angry because one has communication problems and cannot express oneself assertively? Is one angry because of persistent unfairness that one has experienced? Come and let us explore the source of your anger and help you manage it effectively.

At Home or Private Discreet Intensives

Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D approaches issues of anger management in a very humane yet fresh perspective. You see, anger is a normal emotion but it is the valence (intensity) as well as the coupling choice of what one does with this that is the problem. Telling someone to "not" do it or modifying behavior with a trite psychological plan that only breeds a compliant response is not the way to change anger. Brainwave optimization is a new cutting edge technology that allows one to rewire circuitry responsible for reactivity driving the anger.
