In Tallahassee, there are a number of services that offer care to adults, children and families suffering from mental illness and are in need of support and care. The National Alliance on Mental Illness, a national non-profit advocacy organization, holds regular events in Tallahassee, from support groups to educational classes. The Florida Youth Leadership Forum provides leadership training for students with disabilities. Sponsored by the non-profit The Able Trust, the forum takes Florida high school juniors and seniors with disabilities and provides them with helpful workshops and classes over a long weekend in Tallahassee. Programs focus on self-esteem, leadership skills, and preparing students with disabilities for life after high school, including workforce training.
