I help clients to create a tool chest to use when experiencing anger. This includes mindfulness work to build the space in their heads to make new responses when angry. This includes empowering clients around the choices they can make and building on their strengths, while teaching relaxation and grounding techniques. Along with creating new space, I help them explore the variety of causes for their anger and help them reconnect to it in a healthier manner.

As a culture, we do not do well with healthy expressions of anger. Often we are raised to suppress it and then we have limited practice at dealing with big emotion. There is a spectrum of healthy aggression- to keep us safe and to maintain boundaries- and rage- our body's strategy for safety. Anger management is about applying the right "dosing" to maintain boundaries yet not fracture relationships or suffer other losses. I am able to help you learn to regulate your body to be able to apply the appropriate "dose" to be effective and not destructive.

One example being an unfulfilled expectation - that is, you thought something would turn out one way, yet it turned out another. This naturally makes one upset. How you deal with it is another matter altogether. This service will help you first become clear on the three elements of an upset, teach you ways to get out in front of automatic responses and make sure you have a new set of tools to better be able to manage such situations when they arise.
