Faith and spirituality can provide comfort and meaning to those guided by their beliefs. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.

Yes, it is true we carry God with us, but we also need to carry a developed Self in order to have the curiosity and discipline to carry out what we believe to be God's wishes. With a stronger Self we also can differentiate our own wishes and needs. We can identify and delineate one feeling from the other. This is vital as our feelings serve as emissaries of our needs. To be a "good Christian" or a "good Jew, you must first understand what it takes to make an even better YOU. That is where I enter the picture.

I practice of form of therapy that is consistent with Judeo-Christian values. I was raised as a Catholic and understand the philosophy and tenets of Catholicism. I teach patients to fully accept themselves and others but to address misbehavior in themselves and others. This is consistent with the biblical phrase "Condemn the sin but love the sinner."
