Nassau County's Adult Protective Services programs ensure the safety of family members that are incapable of caring for themselves due to physical or mental disability. Services for individuals who have been discharged from mental institutions are provided as well to ensure a smooth transition back to life with their families. Many of these services may be offered for free, regardless of the level of income. Families that have lost their homes can also find resources for stable and safe housing. The county ensures the safety of vulnerable populations, such as children and the elderly, through Child and Adult Protective services.
