I work with children dealing with anxiety, including separation anxiety. I use play therapy to help the child learn about their anxiety and to develop skills to reduce and manage the anxiety. When anxiety or OCD traits start interfering with the child's ability to focus, calm themselves or complete their task, it is time to seek help for them. Children have a positive experience with play therapy and the concerns that come with medication use can be avoided. I see children starting around age 5.
