Career development is a process that can be greatly affected by a person’s self-esteem. Our family can influence how our self-concept developed. As we encounter new experiences, have various successes and failures during our development, our self-concept can change over the course of time. We work with people by helping them to explore how they arrived at their present situation, get in touch with their own priorities and values, and integrate these into their identity of which career is a part of as opposed to the end goal. People experience satisfaction if they are able to be in a career, experience relationships and enjoy leisure activities that are in harmony with their value system.
