Christians are unique because they are given a new nature upon conversion, it is said that they are "born again." A Christian is now able to participate in the Divine Nature, with Christ. It is helpful for the Christian to learn the difference between the "old self" and the "new self" that we have in Christ. As the Christian learns to increasingly dwell in the new self, learning to rest in Christ's work and ability, they are able to experience a new peace and freedom. This freedom will present as the fruit of the Spirit, and is a free gift given of Christ resultant of his sacrifice and resurrection.

Our deepest wounds are often those that are at the hands of another person. Human brokenness is the root of our need for redemption. This holds true in therapy and growth work as well. When we encounter our deep wounds, we encounter our need for our Big God. Here, we are able to reconcile the broken our hurt parts of our ourselves. Faith and spirituality can provide comfort and meaning to those guided by their beliefs. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.

As a believer and Ordained Minister of The Gospel I offer compassionate, biblical, non judgemental help to all of my clients. Being a Christian does not mean that we will be exempt of life's trials or hardships, but with God we can live a victorious and peace filled life regardless of our situations. God alone is our healer and I honor Him as the one who truly heals. My desire is to be the vessel through which His healing, understanding, compassion and hope are imparted to you.

When asked to incorporate a biblical perspective into therapy, I am more than happy to do this. I became a born-again Christian early in my youth. Since I have walked with the Lord for a long time, I have also fallen a time or two, which makes therapy all that richer. There's no judgement, just honest truths that can feel relatable. Therapy is sprinkled throughout the bible; it's the framework for CBT. I can honestly say with my whole heart, despite all that the Lord and I have been through, he really is my best friend.

In my Christian counseling approach, I offer emotional and relationship support grounded in the principles of Christianity, providing clients with a framework to navigate life's challenges. Recognizing the profound role of religious faith, I understand that individuals who identify as Christians may seek counseling where their beliefs are not only respected but also integrated into the therapeutic process. This approach fosters a sense of comfort and trust for clients, as they can openly explore and discuss their faith without fear of judgment. By aligning counseling strategies with Christian principles, I aim to help clients find solace, guidance, & strength within their spiritual beliefs.

I work with many clients who have had traumatic experiences with religion or church, who may have even been hesitant to contact me because I am a believer. My feedback from these clients has been overwhelmingly positive. Spiritual trauma is all too prevalent. I also work with those who prefer me because of my Christian faith. No matter your background, whether a religious person or otherwise, I meet clients on their terms as they work to explore what they believe, not what I believe.

Is a Christian Counseling perspective important to you in therapy? As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, over the last 15 years I’ve been blessed to help hundreds of men find hope and healing using both psychological and Biblical principles. I believe that Christ is the ultimate source of hope and healing in this life. But I also believe that he’s given us the gift of rational minds, able to discern scientific and psychological truths built into the fabric of His amazing creation. My approach is grounded firmly in Scripture, but I don’t use Scripture as a weapon. You don’t need more guilt, but rather, a reminder of God’s promises and a compassionate guide to support you.
