Individual counseling may be oriented towards helping clients achieve their goals for their own personal development. The Master Designer created us as sexual beings and much of my practice is aimed at helping clients overcome sexual anorexia or the other end of that continuum, sexual addiction and/or pornography addiction (with the added markers of distress being present.) Sex Therapy from a Christian perspective is a large part of my practice.

My approach to psychotherapy is rooted in fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and active listening. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in depth. Because each person and problem are unique, I do not require a minimum number of sessions; you can work at your own pace. I offer one-time consultations, short-term and long-term therapy, and block-intensives which are longer amounts of time devoted to resolving your issue as quickly as possible.

Underwood Counseling & Consultation, PLLC takes an approach to treatment that is an integrated wellness model. We have worked extensively in the treatment of performance based anxieties, co-occurring chronic health conditions, & severe mental health diagnoses as well as in the treatment of trauma & adverse life events. We use research supported treatments such as EMDR, CBT, ART & Family System therapy.

I offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is a present focused psychotherapy and uses elements of traditional psychotherapy where the historical data is relevant to the present circumstances, thoughts and feelings that are being addressed. The client sets the agenda collaboratively with the therapist during each session. The client gains the tools over the course of therapy to use for a lifetime. Many clients see results quickly with CBT, and most see substantial results in 15 sessions.

Understanding "why" we are experiencing life the way we are can be very empowering. The Psychotherapy process will allow us to start to look at deeper rooted issues. When we evaluate our past we can begin to puzzle together your current relationships and sort through possible effective solutions. Going deeper with yourself allows for more relief and understanding.
