Feelings of depression often lie on a continuum--from a little sad to feeling life is overwhelming. Often we move along that line daily, weekly, monthly. However, sometimes we overlook times when we are NOT sad--exploring and focusing on these times helps to empower us conquer those moments when we do feel blue. From a strength based approach we will discover what is happening in your life, what you are doing when you are NOT sad, and use these strategies to overcome feelings of sadness.

I work with a depressed nervous system by working with the body. Often we struggle to sleep, eat, or accomplish relatively simple tasks. Our bodies are stuck with the brake on. When our body thinks it is futile, out mind follows quickly thereafter and we begin to tell ourselves how pointless things are and how worthless we are. I work with the whole body to re-regulate the body to enable you to get back to a whole integrated self.

EMDR, Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing, has been proven effective for depression and anxiety. Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy has also been proven effective for Treatment Resistant Depression for those whom traditional pharmaceutical interventions (Prozac, Wellbutrin, etc.) were not tolerated or ineffective. We offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy under medical supervision with appropriate screening and post-treatment observation by an ER physician with over 20 years of experience with Ketamine administration.

Depression hurts. My approach is to help you learn how, through self awareness and connection to Jesus through prayer to identify the root cause of your behaviors and feelings. Once you learn this, I offer strategies to help you reframe, or adjust, your thoughts and behavior patterns to line up with the truth of God's holy word about you and your situation.

Exploring and identifying triggers as well as contributing factors tat are fueling clients symptoms of depression is the main focus when beginning to work together. After awareness is developed client will have a better understanding of where adjustments can be made. Adjustments may include; creating a healthier self care routine, creating a healthier work/life balance, engaging in as well as exploring new hobbies, engaging in healthy social interactions, etc.

Our therapists have extensive inpatient and outpatient treatment experience with mood disorders and take a multi-dimensional approach to the assessment and treatment of depression. We offer trational talk therapies, including cognitive-behavioral and spiritual direction, as well as Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG) guided Neurofeedback therapy (brainwave biofeedback). Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment of functioning - physically, emotionally, cognitively, relationally, and spiritually. If indicated, we will perform a qEEG brainmap to inform our treatment recommendations. We commonly work with the client's psychiatrist to ensure continuity of treatment.

Depression takes so many forms. Sometimes you don't realize you have been in a depression until someone else points it out to you. In counseling, I will help in guiding you to a place of comfort and hope. I use a cognitive behavioral approach so we will discuss your thoughts behaviors and feelings and how they are interconnected. When we change one we can change the others. Having this awareness can create a power to change to lift you out of the dark depression and into the light of happiness.
