With eating disorders, I begin therapy by bringing the client and family in for a family session. I will also see the client alone in order to assess specific behaviors and attitudes about food, weight and exercise. This is very helpful in addressing the severity of the eating disorder and improving the understanding of the contributing factors to the disorder.
