The performing arts are an important part of the cultural landscape here. The Amarillo Opera was started in 1988 and is well known for its community outreach programs.1 Free workshops are offered for ages 5-18 where students can learn about music, dance, visual arts, poetry and manners. Since 1924 the Amarillo Symphony has been making beautiful music for the community. The group is comprised of 85 talented musicians. To make music accessible to everyone, tickets are very reasonably priced. Youth throughout the panhandle participate in the Youth Choir. Choirs have travelled extensively to perform during their 18 year history. Dance is also represented in the town. The Amarillo Ballet owns their practice facility where classes are offered to the community. There are several museums in the area. Some of them are the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, Amarillo Museum of Art and Kwahadi Kiva Indian Museum. Classes and education events are available at all of these sites.

Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, located in Amarillo, provides civil services for low-income families struggling with legal difficulties involving housing, education, employment, marriage, family, or personal issues5. No matter what the issue that brings you to the need of legal services one's stress and anxiety levels can be high. Legal Aid also hosts special events and workshops on pertinent issues like changes in child support laws, as well as general intake clinics at Polk Street Methodist Church and Wesley Community Center. They also offer a pro se divorce clinic for uncontested separations with no minor children or divided property.
