The greatest issue with couples therapy is that most couples wait too long to seek it out. I use a systems approach to couples and family therapy and often explore the communication patterns, roles, and rules of the couple or family. I help couples examine the interactions and/or dynamics of the relationship that are working and the patterns and/or interactions that are not. As opposed to continuing to blame his/her partner, I ask individuals to assess his/her part of the difficulties in the relationship and help them identify areas that he/she can work on to improve their relationship. Ultimately, the only thing one has control over is his/her own behavior or his/her part of the problem in the relationship.

Of all the counseling I have done, couple counseling is the most satisfying. My goal in working with couples, married, dating or engaged, is always with the goal of building healthy, live-giving ways of communicating, and in helping to create a wonder a curiosity of the other person in order to appreciate and come to love them more. As a Christian, I counsel couples who want Christian-based counseling on dating or marriage, and also work with those who simply want to improve their relationship with a partner or loved one, though not necessarily with a spiritual element. I am also a Wedding Officiate, and have officiated at several weddings over the last few years.
