Hello! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.

If you found this page, the chances are high that  you or a loved one (i.e. child or teenager) are feeling overwhelmed? Does it seem when you try to talk to your child/teen, nothing helps? Is your child/teen struggling to manage the stress of school demands, peer pressure or a life transition? If the answer is YES, your child or teen would benefit from having someone to help them manage the big emotions that accompany these experiences! I specialize in connecting with children and teens to help them make sense of the complex emotions they are experiencing and then finding tools that fit for them to help when faced with future challenges.

In addition to my work with children and teens, I help parents and families manage the stress accompanying parenting and relationship challenges. Oftentimes, a struggling child also means the entire family is feeling overwhelmed and needs support. I provide an open, non-shaming environment for families that need this help.
I can provide a range of treatment options for my clients - I am trained in EMDR therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Attachment oriented parenting support, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and person centered talk therapy for my clients.

Counseling is my second career.  I spent over a decade working in higher education after earning my first Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration.  My work in higher education was fulfilling, but I truly desired to connect further with others and gain new knowledge and skills to promote healing for individuals, couples and families.  That led me to seek advanced training in Marriage and Family Therapy at Regis University.

Most recently, I worked as a clinical intern at The Crisis Center in Castle Rock.  At The Crisis Center, I found my passion – working with those that have experienced trauma of some sort (being engaged in a relationship characterized by violence, childhood abuse, emotional abuse, etc).  In addition to my work with The Counseling Place, I continue to serve as a clinical volunteer at The Crisis Center, seeing clients on a pro bono basis.

It is my greatest privilege to create a safe space for my clients - one in which you or your loved ones can share openly and journey toward healing.  We will work together to develop a relationship characterized by trust, honesty and understanding.  As as part of this secure therapeutic relationship, you or your loved ones will begin to feel more courage to take essential steps toward new ways of thinking, feeling and functioning.  You have many options to choose from as you search for the right therapist and I recognize the challenge that one faces when trying to find the right fit! Sharing your story with another person takes tremendous courage and vulnerability. I applaud you and admire your courage for taking this step.

I look forward to learning more about you or your loved one and how I may be of assistance in your healing.
